A YOUTH music charity will perform new music devised for an iconic Lyme Regis event this weekend.

Members of the B Sharp music group will hold their premiere performance at a candlelit concert at St Michael's Church, Lyme Regis on Saturday (29) evening as part of the Candles on the Cobb event.

Candles on the Cobb is an iconic and beautiful event, where thousands of candles are lit around the Cobb at dusk by teams of volunteers - while tens of thousands of people come to watch and remember someone close to them.

B Sharp are offering the opportunity for keen young singers to join them tomorrow (28) from 10am to 4pm, to sing in a chorus with professional musicians, vocal coaches and older B Sharp soloists. Singers between the age of nine and 30 years old are welcome to take part, regardless of experience, taste or background. The session will take place at The Hub.

B Sharp director Fran Williams, said: "This is a great opportunity for singing enthusiasts to take part in the important community Candles on the Cobb event.

"We already have a small core group of fantastic singers singed up and now I would like to encourage anyone who loves to sing to join us and be part of this project with potential progression pathways."

B Sharp works with hundreds of young aspiring musicians, singers and entrepreneurs from across west Dorset and East Devon. This project is part of a wider music and singing programme that has been part funded by Youth Music, West Dorset District Council and Lyme Regis Town Council.

The group will also perform, weather depending, at the Marine Parade shelters at around 8pm on Sunday (30).

The St Michael's concert will take place on Saturday (29) at 7pm. For more information, please call 01297 442138. For more information on B Sharp, please call Fran Williams on 07968177663 or visit bsharp.uk.org
