A BRIDPORT couple inspired by the stunning Jurassic Coast in Dorset have opened an online business offering beautiful, unusual and unique items for the home.

Rocco and Rose was established by husband and wife team Andrew and Robyne Irish who are based in Bridport.

An interior designer and a property developer, Robyne and Andrew have drawn on their passion and knowledge of the interior world to source pieces from artisans and designers across the world.

And they are keen to source work from local craftspeople who design and make their own wares in Dorset and the southwest.

Robyne has had a lifelong passion for interiors, art and creating beautiful spaces. Her portfolio of experience led to the creation of Rocco and Rose where she combines her skill as an interior designer with her love of sourcing the best and most unique home-ware from around the globe.

Robyne said: “We are so inspired by the environment here in Dorset.

“It is a truly beautiful place to live and work, with a hugely supportive community.

“The products at Rocco and Rose originate from artisans and designers who have eco, ethical and fair-trade roots and a passion for the quality and design of the finished product."

Andrew is trained in graphic design and is an established and knowledgeable property developer with 12 years of experience in the industry. Robyne and Andrew have also set up the hugely successful The Shepherds Hut Retreat and Fords Croft Cottages in south Somerset.

“We support the Woman’s Adobe in Mexico through stocking of Orikomi pendant lights," added Robyne. "A range of our products bolster fair trade initiatives in Rajasthan and encourage traditional artisans to keep age-old techniques alive.

“One of the main features of the business is that we are always looking for designers who also make their products. There are so many talented people in this area and it would be great to work with people who share our passion.”

Robyne says that having an online business means that people in rural areas can source unusual and striking pieces for their homes, from furniture and kitchenware to lighting and gifts, without having to travel to cities with large shopping centres.

“We hope people will enjoy shopping on our website, but we believe in old-fashioned customer service and offer a product sourcing service so our customers can discover hand-picked treasures for their homes.”
