TOMORROW marks the beginning of Dorset Art Weeks 2016.

This open studios event, from May 28 to June 12, is intended to bring the public face to face with the artists and makers.

It is also a chance to get out and about and visit the locations which Dorset's creative collective is inspired by.

There are a number of special events taking place throughout the weeks, including piano concerts in Tincleton, a 'hapa-zome' or leaf-dyeing workshop in Dorchester, a half term workshop at the Walled Garden in Moreton. You can also take a tour of the Hall and Woodhouse brewery in Blandford.

Sculptor Sarah Moore will be demonstrating stone carving on June 2 and 3 at the Tincleton Gallery from 10.30am to 5pm.

Over in Bridport, 20 artists in Bridport's St Michael's Studios will be showing off their work.

Works on show will include landscapes by Kit Glaisyer, dream doodles in pastel by Caroline Ireland, mythical figurative works by David Brooke, figurative & abstract paintings by Andrew Leppard, popular Colmers Hill paintings by Marion Taylor (recently featured on Walks with Julia Bradbury ITV), semi-abstract landscapes by Charlotte Miller, plus land and sea paintings by John Boyd.

In Lyme Regis, wildlife artist Emma Bowring will unveil her magnificent oil painting of an elephant tomorrow at the Edwards and Parr Gallery.

In the heart of Hardy Country in Lower Bockhampton, Anthony Paul will be displaying his figure and portrait pieces.

Or be dazzled by the silver and gemstone jewellery of Lesley H Phillips in Castle Park, Dorchester.

Lesley's work has featured in Vogue and the National Museum, London.

Photography will also be on show; including demonstrations of the painterly aspects of photography by Fo Bugler in her Sherborne studio.

Find out more about print-making by visiting the garden studio of Maureen Nathan in Rampisham near Dorchester.

Maureen takes inspiration from the world around her creating colourful and lively unique prints using linocut, paint and collage; paintings in both oil and acrylic; ink drawings and cards.
