Two police officers were allegedly assaulted with one needing hospital treatment, after a call to deal with an incident at a caravan park.
Dorset Police were called to the scene in Charmouth, near Lyme Regis, at 9.40pm last night.
A spokesman said members of the public called police and officers attended reports that a couple were having an argument.
The spokesman said: "A 23-year-old male and a 20-year-old female, both from Exeter, were arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a controlled substance.
"During the arrests two officers were assaulted after the male became aggressive. One officer, from Lyme Regis, required hospital treatment after receiving a serious head wound. He has now been discharged from hospital and we wish him a speedy recovery. The two arrested persons remain in custody."
