It is understood that following the single-vehicle crash, the woman became trapped in her car.

Emergency services raced to the scene of the crash, just north of Charmouth, on Saturday (March 23), at around 1.49pm to try and free the woman from her car.

The fire crews then proceeded to make the car safe and provide traffic management until the arrival of the police.

The scene was then left in the hands of the police to await recovery of the vehicle and the road was later re-opened at around 4pm.
