An exhibition of Dorset’s ‘amazing coastline’ expressed through artworks, printed textiles, fused glass and mapmaking is set to be displayed in Lyme Regis.
‘Drawn to the Water’ is an impressive exhibition curated by five artists who have explored the Jurassic Coastline which will be on display at the Malthouse Gallery from May 13-23 daily from 10am-4.30pm.
This exhibition showcases the diverse talents of Alex Boon, Bryony Lamb, Anna Brewster, Trevor Hunt, and the sustainable creations of Tideline Prints.
Alex Boon is an artist and nature journaling educator from Seaton, he shares his meticulous exploration of the Undercliffs National Nature Reserve. Over the past year, Alex has diligently mapped and sketched the reserve, drawing inspiration from John Ogilby’s historic ‘Britannia’ strip maps of 1685.
Bryony Lamb took inspiration from the geological wonders and marine life of the Jurassic Coast, creating fused glass pieces that delve into the magical interplay between colours, metals, and organic inclusions like pressed seaweed.
Anna Brewster, an expressive mixed-media landscape artist working from the Umborne Bridge Studio in Colyton, she infuses her passion for the Jurassic Coastline into her creations.
Trevor Hunt draws inspiration from the powerful and majestic sea, as well as the serene tranquillity of the South West’s inland estuaries.
Tideline Prints is a small coastal studio with a unique focus on block printing using marine debris salvaged from local beaches. With sustainability at the forefront, Karen Bowskill transforms waste into stunning hand-printed bags and accessories.
