WOODROFFE School is celebrating a “fantastic set of results” after students picked up their GCSE marks this morning.

Seventy seven per cent of pupils at the Lyme Regis school achieved the new ‘Basics’ measure – indicating how many students achieved at least a grade C in both English and Maths.

A total of 79 per cent of GCSE pupils achieved at least five A* to C grades with 73 per cent achieving this including English and Maths.

Dr Richard Steward, head of the Woodroffe School, said: “This is a fantastic set of results and I am absolutely delighted to see so many of our students doing so well.

“As ever, students have worked incredibly hard and one can only admire the commitment and determination of those young people who manage to achieve high grades across such a broad range of disciplines.

“I am delighted to say that the vast majority of students will be joining the sixth form where I am sure they will continue to do well.”

Dr Steward is pleased with the school’s performance in the new performance measures introduced for this year’s results. The school achieved a positive Progress 8 score of 0.35, an Attainment 8 score of 55.37, which is equivalent to a B- grade and an Ebacc score of 49 per cent.

He added: “It is also vitally important to recognise the dedication of the Woodroffe staff who work tirelessly to ensure that every student does his or her best every year.

“It is particularly pleasing to note how consistent Woodroffe’s results have become. We are now regularly one of the highest performing schools in the county, and indeed the West Country.”
