SALISBURY II 62 BRIDPORT 0
BRIDPORT suffered their first defeat of the season in Dorset & Wilts Two South as they were well and truly put to the sword by a rampant Salisbury second XV.
The visitors’ defence was relatively sound in the first half and captain Dave Cutting led by example, but the Blues offered little in attack against a well-organised side.
Cutting’s men were still competitive until the 50th minute when a lack of substitutes began to tell and the Wiltshire outfit ran away with the game.
Bridport’s forwards were reliable in the set-pieces, though all too often they were second best at the breakdown.
On a positive note for the Blues, there was a promising debut for Joe Heweston, albeit mainly in defence.
Swanage and Wareham Seconds visit the Brewery Ground next and no doubt Bridport will be looking to bounce back from Saturday’s heavy defeat.
Still lying third in the league, Bridport still have everything to play for against a team that won 67-0 last weekend.
