BEES’ chief Trevor Senior has warned his side against complacency ahead of their crucial FA Vase first round encounter with Calne Town on Saturday (3pm).

Bridport have been in fine form throughout the competition so far, including an 11-0 thumping of East Cowes Victoria in the previous round.

And although Calne are a step below Bridport in the league ranks, Senior has urged his side to keep their focus and be as professional as they can against the Wiltshire outfit.

“I think we need to be confident but not complacent, if we started like we did against Sherborne we could come unstuck,” the Brid-port boss said.

“The draw has been kind to us, we have had two home games so far and this game is against a team in the lower league.

“I have spoken to the Melk-sham manager about them and he has been very helpful in giving me the run down on them. By all accounts they have a very good goalkeeper so our finishing has to be better.”

Senior expects to name a similar squad as the group that failed to progress in the Dorset Senior Cup on Tuesday, as they were edged out by rivals Sherborne at St Mary’s field.

Having beaten their visitors in the league earlier this season, Trevor Senior’s men fell behind on 21 minutes when Zebras’ Hayden Hodges looped an effort over Ashley Weeks in the Bees’ goal to make it 1-0.

Sherborne nearly doubled their lead when Steve Burton’s strike hit the crossbar in a lacklustre opening period for the home side. The closest the Bees came to levelling the contest came just short of the hour mark when Matt Condliffe’s 20-yard shot ricocheted off a post to safety.

Following the defeat Senior said: “I was disappointed because with the way have been playing recently we just didn’t turn up in the first half.

“They were up for it more than us it seemed, they were sharper around the pitch and we didn’t pick up the runner when we went 1-0 down.

“We created enough chances in the second half to get a result but it wasn’t to be and hopefully it will be a wake-up call for Sat-urday because it is a big game for us.”

Bees: Weeks, Condliffe, Clarke, Evans, Stewart, Ry Hayter, A Symes (Dovell 69), Wise (J Filkins 69), Byerley (Richardson 12), J Symes, Morley.

n The only injury concern for the Bees ahead of Saturday’s game is striker Warren Byerley, who limped off after 12 minutes on Tuesday with a knee problem, but Senior is hoping the bustling frontman will be fit.

He added: “He landed awkwardly and felt something above his knee, he just came off as a precaution to ice it and rest it.

“With his experience he leads the line well and he’s sharp, we need him fit.”
