BEES’ boss Trevor Senior has announced that club stalwart Dan Wise is set to end his lengthy tenure at St Mary’s Field.

The talismanic midfielder, who has more than 100 goals in Bridport colours, is set to link up with his brother Chris, who is now the joint-manager of Wincanton Town.

Wise is one of two players that Senior revealed is exiting his squad, along with Matt Morley.

Commenting further on Wise’s departure, Senior said: “He has been with the club for 11 years but his brother has taken over as joint-manager at Wincanton and has persuaded him to go there.

Any other moves wouldn’t have happened but he wanted to try a season with him.

“We are very sad to lose Dan, he has been a very good servant to the club and we give him our best wishes.

“The door is always open for him if it doesn’t work out.

“He has scored many good goals for the club and probably played close to 500 games in the Western League for us I would have thought.”

Senior also believes that Morley has attracted interest from rivals Gillingham and Sherborne Town.

“Geography wise it’s closer to his (Morley’s) home so I suppose it makes sense. He has had two good seasons with us but, again, I wish him all the best,“ he added.

With regards to bolstering his squad, the St Mary’s Field chief is hoping that Sam Buckler will be part of his plans after he has returned from overseas and Senior is also confident of luring Jamie Beasley to the club.

He said: “We are still hoping that Sam is going to come back with us and we are still sorting out international clearance for him.

On swooping for Beasley, the Bees’ boss claimed: “I have spoken to him and he said he is going to come and have a look in pre-season.

“I think he has been offered the same at Weymouth as well but hopefully we can get him down with us.”

Senior also revealed that Bridport have seven pre-season fixtures lined up, including Weymouth and Dorchester Town.
