BRIDPORT have ended their month-long search for a new manager with the appointment of Chard Town manager Adam Fricker.

After the eight applicants for the vacancy had been whittled down to two, the Bees went with Fricker to replace Trevor Senior who was at the helm for 10 years.

It is unlikely Fricker will take charge of the first team this season as Chard still have one more game of their season to play on Saturday.

After then, Bridport have only a single fixture to play, which is Saturday, May 7, meaning interim manager Mark Carter will be in charge for tonight's away game against Hallen (7.45pm) and Saturday's visit to Bitton (3pm).

Carter told Echosport that he was pleased with the appointment.

He said:"I am pleased, he's done a good job at Chard, they're second in the league (Toolstation Western League Division One) and it's good for the club that we have someone that is proven at Western League level.

"It will give the club a boost and hopefully can move the club on to something better."

Chard Town are currently second in their league with only goal difference separating them and Wells City at the top of the table.
