TWENTY-FOUR teams took part in Bridport Youth Football Club's Mini-Soccer Tournament at Salway Ash Village Hall.

The event, sanctioned by the Dorset FA, catered for under-6, under-7 and under-8 teams.

The venue was packed with young footballers from across Dorset and Somerset and the atmosphere on the day was electric.

Organiser, Martin Phillips said the event was a great success with a lot of very good teams in action playing some fantastic football.

He said: "Since starting as a coach with BYFC, I have always been keen to host our own tournament so on Sunday morning to see it all come together was very special.

"I have been inundated with congratulatory messages and emails since Sunday which has made all the effort worthwhile, knowing children, parents, coaches and spectators have all had a brilliant day at a great setting.

"There are far too many people to thank who have supported me in making this happen from parents to the club and not forgetting the great local businesses who have also helped but I would like to say a special mention to our trophy, medal, golden ball and player of the tournament sponsors Scrubz, Elwell Boarding Kennels, Longs Fish & Chips and Michael Scadding Plumbing and Heating and our special guest, Sam Sherring, AFC Bournemouth and former Bridport Youth FC player."
