MELISSA McMahon and Rosie Jackman emerged winners for Lyme Regis in the Dorset Ladies’ County Scratch Interclub Foursomes.

With McMahon playing off one and Jackman off 13, this was always going to be tough in a scratch competition.

The duo did well to qualify to play in the semi-final. They were drawn against Parkstone, who were hosting the event.

McMahon and Jackman came up trumps winning one-up on the 18th to book their place in the final against a much-fancied Ferndown side.

It was nip and tuck all the way finishing all square on the 18th, so the contest went to a sudden death play-off, with the pairings heading back up the first.

McMahon drive was good and, as Ferndown came up short in their approach shot, Jackman fired long and to the back, just off the green.

As nerves came in, Lyme held theirs and emerged winners in what was a truly remarkable feat of stamina and teamwork.

The success adds more silverware for McMahon this summer having added the foursomes crown to the county singles title she won last month.

In the silver division, Jane Dixon and Di Harris made it through to the semi-finals but lost to a strong Ferndown pair.
