WILLAND ROVERS 2

BRIDPORT 1

ADAM Fricker was left feeling frustrated after his side were edged out by Willand Rovers on Wednesday night.

Ed Butcher opened the scoring with his first competitive goal for the club midway through the first half with a composed finish.

But, the hosts struck back with two quick goals before the break allowing them to shut up shop in the second half and win the clash.

Speaking after the game, Fricker said: “I’m gutted. We were excellent in the first 35 minutes, but we allowed them to get back into the game.

“Their two goals knocked the stuffing out of the lads and in the second half they were professional and made it difficult for us.”

In their opening fixtures, Butcher has been on hand to assist every one of the Bees’ three goals before the midweek clash and Fricker was thrilled to see his attacker among the goals.

He added: “I’m really pleased for Ed. Hopefully it can help him add more to his game.

“We’re playing well so we just need to turn these performances into results.”

Their first opportunity to do that is at home on Saturday when Fricker’s charges will take on Bradford Town (3pm).

Speaking about the test, he explained: “They’ve got a new manager and they’ve lost their top striker Sam Jordan to Weymouth, so we don’t know a great deal about them.

“It’s definitely going to be a tough game, as every game is in the Western League.”
