BOURNEMOUTH IV 38

BRIDPORT 3

A CONCUSSION to Gareth Thomson overshadowed Bridport’s humbling 38-3 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth IV at Chapel Gate.

Thomson suffered the injury in the second half and was helped by captain Tom Gamwell, who had to come off at half-time.

The captain told the News that Thomson is now fine and resting up.

It was a sorry tale on the pitch for the hosts in their first league game of the season against a Bournemouth side that had been promoted from Dor- set & Wilts Three South last term.

The visitors managed a solitary kicking score in the clash as their opponents ran riot.

They notched up a handful of tries in the encounter to get their campaign off to the perfect start.

Bridport will hope to get their season back on track this Saturday as they get set to take on Salisbury Thirds at the Brewery Ground (3pm).

Salisbury are also coming off the back of a loss after they were defeated 28-24 by New Milton Seconds in their first game of the new season.
