BRIDPORT begin a massive eight days in their season with a Walter C Parson Cup quarter-final tie at Newquay this Saturday (2.30pm).

Chris Herbst’s Bees face the Peppermints, of the Premier West, looking to book a second cup semi-final this season.

Following their tie in Cornwall, Bridport host Hamworthy Recreation in the Dorset Senior Cup semis on Tuesday and go on to host Premier East leaders Ivybridge Town next Saturday.

Herbst also revealed he has a small degree of intelligence on Newquay going into the clash.

He told the Bridport News: “It’s an exciting time.

"We’ve got a good chance to get into another cup semi-final and it’s a good day out for everyone.

“There’s quite a lot of people coming on the coach, so it should be a good day.

“Kinger’s (Luke King) friend played against them, so we know a little bit but not loads, just how they play.

“We’ve got our gameplan set up, so we’re ready for it. The chance to be in two semi-finals is massive.

“Hopefully we’ll have a good result Saturday and it kicks us on into Tuesday, then to Ivybridge as well. It’s a big week.”

However, poor form has crept into the Bridport ranks in recent weeks, going five straight games without a victory.

Herbst added: “When we play teams that are struggling, I always think: ‘When are they going to turn it?’ because results have got to give.

“Barring Saturday, we’ve actually played some good football. So, I don’t think getting results is too far away.”

Jordon Scadding (elbow) and Will Gape are doubts, forwards Sol Ayunga and Tom Richardson are expected to miss out, along with James Cox and Brayden Jones. However, Adam Diaz returns.

Herbst said: “It’s frustrating because we’ve got a very strong line-up, it’s just the depth. If we lose five or six, like we have, it’s been tough.”

Herbst is also unfazed by Newquay’s home record, with the Peppermints recording 11 wins in 15 games at Mount Wise Stadium this season.

Meanwhile, star striker Louis Price has 17 goals in 16 games.

Herbst said: “The way I look at it, if you look at their table and our table, they’re third and we’re third.

“It will be a good game and they won’t know how we play. We’ve got some quality players in our team. We’ve got to stand up and make sure they’re counted on the day.”
