BRIDPORT LADIES 4

PORLOCK LADIES 0

BRIDPORT Ladies remain on course for third spot in Somerset County Women’s League Division Two South following a comfortable 4-0 win over Porlock Ladies.

Bridport kicked off in determined mood and the Bees wasted no time making their mark, with Florence Valinski opening the scoring within minutes from a well-taken corner.

Momentum was firmly on Bridport's side, as they netted two more goals in quick succession before the 15-minute mark.

Laura Tattershall's shot found its way over the line and then she swiftly doubled her tally by finishing off Valinski’s near-missed shot toward the back post.

At the 34th-minute mark, Holly Perryment added to Bridport's lead with a spectacular lob over the keeper, much to the delight of the home crowd.

The match proved to be perhaps more evenly contested than the result suggested, particularly in midfield, where battles were fiercely fought.

However, Bridport's dominance was evident in the number of shots taken, with nearly 20 attempts compared to Porlock's seven.

Bridport's defence, anchored by Charlie Sparrow's solid performance in goal, ensured Porlock had few clear-cut chances.

As the second half unfolded, Bridport took the opportunity to rotate their squad and give some players valuable match time before closing out the win and clean sheet.

Looking ahead, Bridport anticipates a challenging fixture against second-placed Pen Mill Ladies Reserves on Sunday (2pm).

With the confidence gained from their performance at St Mary’s Field, Bridport are aiming to put up a strong fight against their Somerset opponents.
