WEST Bay Sea Angling Club's annual presentation night took place at the Jurassic Fun Centre with a catalogue of trophies and ten-pin bowling.

Lidy Carter was the overall winner of the Saturday Junior competitions, winning the Saturday Cup, she also won the Ladies’ Junior Trophy and shared the Fred Bowditch Memorial Trophy with Belle Chidzoy, presented to the junior obtaining the highest points total.

Not only did Chidzoy share that trophy with Carter but she also won the Frank & Peggy Daw Memorial Trophy, the Stokes Family Trophy and the Lambert Trophy. 

The Jurassic League runner-up and winner were announced with Chidzoy coming second to winner Mason Price.

In the Junior Species League, the winner was Carter with 40 points.

In the Handicap Species League, the overall winner was Lea Windsor with 55 and the winner of the main Species League was once again Paul House with 67.

The top boat angler of 2023 was Rod Barr with six trophies; The Conservation Trophy (Boat), The Boat Champions Shield, The Symes Cup, The Three Horseshoes Shield, the Tia Maria Trophy and his boat Miss Grace also won the Boat Trophy.

Top shore angler of 2023 was House who collected seven trophies; The Andy Neal Roving Challenge, The Axminster Cup, The David Cornick Trophy, The John & Frances Hunt Trophy, The Rickard Cup, The Summers Cup and The Whitehead Cup.

Top juniors in the main presentation were Aaron Chambers who won four trophies; The Eric Hamblett Memorial Trophy, The Junior Cup (Shore), The Woolwich Cup, The Junior Species Hunt Trophy and he shared the Jake Neal Roving Challenge with Chidzoy.

Top senior lady for 2023 was Kim Chidzoy who collected The Pettet Cup & The Andy Neal Roving Challenge Ladies Trophy.

Winner of the Junior Species Trophy was Chambers who managed to catch 33 different species.

The Senior Species Hunt Trophy was won by Dean Francis who caught 46 different species.

The Team Species Hunt Trophy was won by Team Tales, consisting of Ollie Mears and Dean Francis with 57 species between them.

The Clubman Shield winner was Steve Harwood and the President’s Cup, chosen by incumbent Dave Cornick, went to the Angling Centre and was collected by Dave Chidzoy and Chambers.

The yearly ‘Fish of the Quarter’ draw, for all the top-five winners of the ‘fish of the quarter’ in 2023 went to Mike Hansell, who collected the £30 Angling Centre voucher.

Club officials thanked the Jurassic Centre and staff for hosting and all who helped to make the night a success.
