BRIDPORT have set their stall out to give a true reflection of their side at home to Torridgeside on Saturday (3pm).

The Bees delivered a poor showing in a 1-0 loss to the T-Siders earlier this season, but have since put together back-to-back South West Peninsula League Premier East victories.

With the race for second hotting up with Crediton United, and expected FA Cup qualification for 2024/25, Bridport have plenty of incentives for a strong finish to the season.

Leaders Ivybridge may be out of sight, some 23 points ahead, but boss Chris Herbst is intent on making sure his players live up to their potential this weekend, weather permitting.

He told the Bridport News: “I think we owe a good performance from last time, we were awful down there and we didn’t deserve anything from the game.

“We definitely have to put that right. Last time we played them, we were missing three or four and it certainly showed.

“Everyone’s chomping at the bit to put this one right and so am I, I’m really looking forward to it.”

Bridport’s Walter C Parson Cup semi-final postponement in midweek will now be played on Tuesday, March 26.

However, the Bees’ schedule is now fully crammed with 12 games in 42 days up to the end of the season at home to Dartmouth on Saturday, April 27.

Commenting on the pile-up, Herbst said: “I’ve always felt if we play Saturday-Tuesday, Saturday-Tuesday and don’t train, we’ll get the best out of them.

“If we get a good run of games, people really start hitting form. The last two games we’ve played really well. There’s more to give. Soon enough, I’m going to have a big selection headache.

“I’m confident we will be strong in all those games.”

He added: “Where the (semi-final) has been put in, their hands are tied.

“We’ve got Tuesday, Friday, Monday, Wednesday, Saturday. So, it’s a hell of a run of games. That’s going to be tough in the long run.”

Riley Weedon and Luke King are available after knocks, while Will Gape is a doubt.

Weymouth Under-23s midfielder Charlie Pitt is back in contention, while James Cox, Ryan Leader and Brayden Jones are set to come back later this month.

Tom Richardson (knee) is also working his way back to full fitness.

“They’re big players for us, on top of the lads already there,” Herbst added.

“There’s four starting players there, so I’m comfortable and confident that we should be strong in all those games.”

Bridport have also signed brothers Isaac and Noah House from Beaminster on dual registration terms, although the duo will favour the Rainbows over the Bees until their season ends.
