BRIDPORT Reserves will “be a lot stronger next year” with the addition of Murray Legg as their new manager, incumbent Adam Herring believes.

Bridport’s second string have endured a tough couple of seasons with an increased standard in the Dorset Premier League.

The Bees finished in 15th of the 17 teams last campaign and currently reside in 14 of the 16 clubs this season on the bubble of relegation.

That compares unfavourably to their placing of ninth in the 2021/22 season.

Legg, meanwhile, has steadied the Beaminster ship in his first term at the helm in Dorset League Division One, following relegation from the Dorset Senior League under ex-boss Neil Holt.

And Herring is backing his good friend to help advance the Bees’ second string in the Dorset Premier League during 2024/25.

“Obviously, it’s a very tough league,” Herring told the Bridport News.

“I still think we’re not far off with the addition of a few younger lads we’ve got involved, Matty Loder who plays for Dorchester Under-18s and Stan Woodhouse.

“With some of the teams coming away from the league and with a full pre-season with Murray in charge, he’ll have more respect and authority and we could be a lot stronger next year.”
