BEAMINSTER 3

POPPIES DEV 2

BEAMINSTER continued their impressive home form with a 3-2 victory over Bournemouth Poppies Development at the Memorial Ground.

The Rainbows’ victory came against a strong Bournemouth Development side who had beaten them 6-2 earlier in March.

An ankle injury to goalkeeper Jonathan Gudge forced centre-back Richard Runyard to start in goal but Beaminster shrugged this off and went 1-0 up.

Robin Jones found Noah House down the left flank, the forward cutting inside and beating two defenders before slotting home.

Isaac House moved into the centre-forward role after another injury and he responded by drawing a foul in the box from the opposition keeper before converting the penalty for 2-0.

However, the Rainbows were pegged back by goals either side of half-time from Matt Charalambous and Bradley Johnson-Brown for 2-2.

With only five minutes remaining, Beaminster scored a dramatic winner as Jacob Parsons and Isaac House combined to play in Paul Hill, who smashed home for 3-2 and the three points.

Speaking to Beaminster’s media team, manager Murray Legg said: “A fantastic performance from the lads.

"We spoke about how Bournemouth were able to hurt us and exploit some weaknesses at their place and everyone took it on board and played to the game plan.

"The effort was there this week and we were technically really good on and off the ball.

“Everyone deserves a mention, the three in the middle: 40th birthday boy Russell Legg, Robin Jones and Jacob Parsons, were influential in the first half, Jonesy playing a deeper role than normal allowing Jacob to link up with the front three.

“Richard didn’t look out of place in goal and swept really well when needed. The wind made things even more difficult but he wasn’t shy in coming for crosses and had a really important role in our win.

“The subs all played their part when they came on, I couldn’t be prouder of the lads."
