KENTISBEARE 3

LYME REGIS 1

BATTLING Lyme Regis were knocked out of the East Devon Senior Cup as Kentisbeare claimed a 3-1 victory over the Seasiders.

Managerless Lyme, who continue to be overseen by interim boss Chris Higgs, went a goal behind early on as their hosts made a quick start to the tie.

Bradley Riggs found space around 20 yards from goal and unfurled a sweet strike that flew past keeper Will Meech into the bottom corner for 1-0.

Lyme did ride their luck before the break but managed to get into half-time just one goal down, only to concede early in the second half.

Kentisbeare’s goal was well worked in truth as the hosts played Rhys Cruse through on goal.

He watched Meech go to ground early and lifted the ball over the custodian for 2-0.

Lyme were then given a lifeline as midfielder Mark Bailey’s corner deceived home keeper Aden Shilling, flying into the far corner for 2-1 in the 70th minute.

As Lyme pushed for an equaliser, the Seasiders conceded a third as Ian Patchett combined with Lee Riggs before beating Meech from a tight angle for 3-1.
